As part of the celebrations surrounding the 25th anniversary of the West Coast Eagles, the club was proud to release its 2011 TV commercial, paying tribute to the club’s lifeblood: the fans.

The club embarked on a nation-wide search to find the stars of the TV commercial, asking supporters to send in a photo or video capturing their devotion to the blue and gold.

Dean Cox and Daniel Kerr had the difficult task of selecting the winners, with Jayde Cossington earning a spot in the commercial after she entered a photo of her West Coast themed wedding.

“I was absolutely thrilled and honoured to be recognised as a very passionate fan, because I’m a little bit obsessive,” Jayde admitted.

The West Coast fanatic’s appearance has been a hot topic among family and friends, who were not surprised to see Jayde screaming for her team.

“My family and friends think my facial expressions are hilarious, it’s absolutely priceless,” Jayde laughed.

“I’m actually a property manager, so some of my owners and tenants have contacted me asking if I’m in the West Coast TV commercial. It’s been nice to get the recognition, I might have to start charging appearance fees.”

Not to be out-done, Bede Hegarty showed his passion by wearing his West Coast guernsey across America for his honeymoon, his effort winning him an unforgettable day at the TV commercial shoot.

“I had to sit there looking at the camera and scream at the top of my voice about 18 times so they got the right look,” Bede recalled.

“As part of our prize we also got to meet a few players and have a chat, which was awesome.

“I’ve got a two-and-a-half-year-old boy and as soon Nic Naitanui walked into the room he kept saying Nic’s name and was in total awe of him.”

Despite suffering shock and a fit of laughter when told she would star in the West Coast TV commercial, member Judy Meney relished the opportunity to show her loyalty.

“It was so interesting watching the commercial being made and I’ve been really pleased and excited to see the results; I have recorded the commercial and everyone is under threat of death if they delete it,” Judy joked.

“I keep bumping into people who say, ‘I’ve seen you on TV’, so I would suspect on Sunday when I go to the football, the people who’ve sat around me for the last ten years are going to say they saw me.”
