THE SEARCH is on for a person who hurled a half-filled plastic bottle from the top deck of Etihad Stadium at the exiting umpires at the end of the Hawthorn-Carlton clash on Friday night.

Etihad Stadium management confirmed to AFL.com.au on Saturday morning that they had received further information surrounding the incident.

Luckily, the bottle that was thrown did not strike the umpires.

"We're obviously aware of the incident, we're investigating the incident and we will be looking at CCTV footage," Etihad Stadium spokesman Bill Lane said.

"We've also been given some information from a patron who was sitting on level three and we will pass that information on to the AFL and Victoria Police."

Venue management liaised with the AFL after the game and will forward the fresh information to the League on Saturday.

The final free kick count finished 22-13 in Hawthorn's favour, and Carlton was awarded only four to the Hawks' 14 in the second half.

The Hawks won the match by 15 points.
