GREATER Western Sydney co-captain Phil Davis says there no chance of a let down from his side after last week's thrilling upset win over Hawthorn.

GWS heads to Melbourne as heavy favourites to beat the struggling Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night, but Davis believes the club's embarrassing 87-point loss against West Coast a fortnight ago will keep the Giants focused.

"The boys here are so hungry, and we understand that to be a good team we've got to play well week-in, week-out," Davis said.

"We played well on the weekend, we were poor the week before against West Coast, and we had a good block before that. We understand how important it is to play consistent footy.

"You look at all the good sides, they play well week-in, week-out, so we're very driven to put in a good performance this weekend."

The Giants pulled off the greatest victory in their short history with a stunning second half against the Hawks, who led the home side by 27 points midway through the first half.

GWS were able to halt the premiers' momentum and turn the match their way, which Davis believes shows they're on the right track.

"It’s a big step for us. I think our group is maturing a lot, and with maturity comes experience and a little bit more composure, especially in those situations," Davis said.

"You've got to take some belief from that and understand that against a good side we were challenged a few times and were able to hold on and really stay in the fight, and eventually come out on top.

"That gives you great knowledge going forward that you can do that again."

Davis said he hasn't paid any attention to the criticism leveled at his opposite number Marc Murphy, or fellow Blues' star Bryce Gibbs, after Carlton's loss to the Brisbane Lions last Sunday.

Two of Carlton's biggest names, Murphy and Gibbs went missing during the final quarter of last week's disappointing defeat, when the game was up for grabs.

"They're both proud players and very good players. They're both best and fairest winners, so they'll come out firing," Davis said.

"They're a very, very, talented side, they've got a lot of experience behind them and I expect them to put their best foot forward and really take it to us."
