The season is over for some, but things are only just heating up for North’s VFL aligned players.

Ben Warren, Ben Mckinley, Ben Ross, Gavin Urquhart, Majak Daw and Jamie Macmillan trained hard on Tuesday at Aegis Park with their development coaches ahead of Werribee’s semi-final against Casey on Saturday. The Tigers had a hard fought win over Box Hill last weekend but will need to lift substantially if they’re any chance of beating the Casey Scorpions at TEAC oval on Saturday.

Hamish McIntosh won’t return for the finals campaign with North Melbourne electing to wrap its ruckman in cotton wool after a grueling year.

“Hamish has battled achilles injuries throughout the season and managed to play an important role for Werribee late in the season,” North chief of football Donald McDonald told kangaroos.com.au.

“As one of our most important players, its vital that we give him every chance to hit the ground running ahead of our 2012 campaign. It’s too much of a risk for us to have him play out the year in the VFL.”

Robbie Tarrant won’t be risked at this stage either due to a minor knee complaint while Cameron Pedersen and Kieran Harper don’t qualify for finals.

North Ballarat on the other hand, will welcome back the likes of Daniel Pratt, Aaron Black, Cruize Garlett and Aaron Mullet at training in Ballarat on Wednesday.

The Roosters face the Northern Bullants in a Grand Final rematch on Sunday at TEAC Oval and will be without the Delaney brothers and Cameron Richardson due to injury.

Ben Cunnington, Liam Anthony, Matthew Campbell and Shaun Atley didn’t qualify.
