WEST Coast coach John Worsfold has warned the majority of the competition that playing the Saints with a poor attitude or being "a little bit off" will see you get thumped.

The coach said his players thought they were ready for St Kilda's high-pressure football on Easter Saturday, but mental lapses and lazy skill errors led them to a 97-point drilling at Docklands.

Worsfold said the Saints, who out-tackled West Coast 69-45 despite dominating possessions, were mature and ready for finals football.

"It certainly showed us with a poor attitude and if you're not as good the Saints…you're going to get thumped," Worsfold said from Subiaco Oval on Tuesday.

"They're a better squad, they're a bit more mature, and they're in that position ready to attack [the finals].

"[Our players] were totally aware that St Kilda are a pretty hard side [and] were going to put a lot of pressure on us.

"For whatever reason, across the board, our work-rate was down, our ability to make good decisions was well down and [we committed] skill errors that just looked lazy."

Worsfold's post-match assessment was as scathing as he has been in recent years but he seemed to have mellowed somewhat on Tuesday.

The coach said he would give the majority of the 22 players that faced St Kilda the chance to redeem themselves against the Western Bulldogs this Sunday.

"We had a good review of it yesterday [Monday] as a group and individually the players have assessed their own performances and where they could have had more of an impact," he said.

"I've got faith that those guys that played on the weekend are a lot better and a lot tougher than what they showed on the weekend."

However, Worsfold added the majority of the squad was now on notice.

"They've used their chance up," he said.

"If players don't go out with the mindset of doing everything right to help the team be at its best, well they've used up that opportunity or that one chance that they had on the weekend."

Worsfold said he was confident David Wirrpanda would come straight into the side after missing the last two weeks with a hamstring complaint.

It was the only change the coach flagged but he added that Josh Kennedy, Sam Butler and Brent Staker were all working into some form in the WAFL.
