The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the weekend's matches and the following charges were laid:

Chris Tarrant, Collingwood, has been charged with a level two striking offence (125 demerit points, one match) against Lance Franklin, Hawthorn, during the first quarter of the first qualifying Final between Collingwood and Hawthorn, played at the MCG on Friday September 7, 2012.
 
In summary, due to his previous good record, he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.
 
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. As there are two cases involving Brent Harvey from the one game, it should be noted that the final penalty for Harvey, if there are multiple cases, will be the total of all demerit points for all offences. For each 100 points, a one-match penalty must be served.
 
Other incidents assessed:
Contact between Hawthorn's Josh Gibson and Collingwood's Andrew Krakouer from the fourth quarter of Friday's match was assessed. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
 
Contact between the Sydney Swans' Jude Bolton and the Adelaide Crows Patrick Dangerfield from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Dangerfield has the ball and was preparing to kick and Bolton comes towards him. Bolton has both his arms outstretched initially in a bid to smother his opponent's kick and then braces for contact as Dangerfield disposes of the ball. It was the view of the panel that Bolton's action to brace for contact was not a striking motion. No further action was taken.
 
Contact between West Coast's Sam Butler and North Melbourne's Lachlan Hansen from the second quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
