Simon Black, Brent Staker, Bernie 'Gabba' Vegas, Jack Redden and Ryan Harwood were on hand this morning at the Gabba in their PJs to launch the 2011 Banking on our Kids campaign.

Banking on our Kids is a charity established by the Lions’ co-major sponsor, BOQ, to raise funds for sick children, and this year’s campaign kicked off in true Lions style.

The players spent time at the Gabba kicking the footy with some of the children supported by Banking on our Kids - all donned in their winter PJs.

Black said that this year’s campaign was something that the Club held dear.

“It’s a great initiative that BOQ have started up called Banking on our Kids - and it’s basically trying to get the kids back in their own beds and back home to Mum and Dad.”

“That’s why we’re wearing the pyjamas - in support of getting kids back home in their beds.”

“Hopefully we’ll raise some much-needed funds for the sick kids in hospital.”

Black and fellow Lion Luke Power have a heavy involvement with Banking on our Kids, as they both have personal business interests with BOQ.

“The Club, and Luke in particular, have been fantastic with their support of the kids’ hospital and we’ve all spent a lot of time trying to do what we can and put a smile on the kids’ faces.”

“The guys really enjoy being a part of it.”
