COLLINGWOOD forward Mason Cox will miss Sunday's crunch game against West Coast at the MCG due to general soreness.

Cox, who has become an vital part of the Magpies' attack this season, will be replaced by Ben Crocker, who earns a reprieve after being omitted when the teams were named on Friday evening.

The Magpies have two key inclusions, with Travis Varcoe and Darcy Moore returning from long-term layoffs because of hamstring injuries.

Varcoe has not played since round 10, while Moore – who returned via the VFL last weekend – has not appeared at AFL level since round eight.

Flynn Appleby will miss up to a month with a hamstring injury.

West Coast will be bolstered by the inclusions of spearheads Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling and small forward Mark LeCras.

The trio sit atop West Coast's goal kicking tally, having booted 79 goals between them this season.

Young forward Jake Waterman also returns to the lineup, with the mobile forward fifth on the Eagles' goalkicking table with 13 goals for the season.

Nathan Vardy, Brayden Ainsworth, Oscar Allen and Brendon Ah Chee are out of the Eagles' line-up.

The winner of Sunday's contest could move into second position on the ladder behind top-of-the-table Richmond, depending on how Port Adelaide fares against Fremantle at Optus Stadium.
