GOLD COAST ball magnet Jarryd Lyons and Eagles midfielder Dom Sheed are shock axings for their respective sides' round 11 matches.

Lyons has won more possessions than any other Sun this season, while Sheed amassed 22 disposals, five tackles and five clearances in West Coast's last-start win over Hawthorn.

There is also big selection news at Collingwood, where Jeremy Howe (bone bruising), Ben Reid (leg) and Travis Varcoe (hamstring) are all out for Sunday's clash with Fremantle.

ALL THE TEAMS Check 'em out

Gary Rohan and Nic Newman are back for Sydney's Friday night encounter with Carlton for Tom McCartin (omitted) and Tom Papley (managed).

The Blues recalled Jack Silvagni, who has impressed in a midfield role in the VFL, for key forward Harry McKay.

Dale Morris will play his first senior match of the year for the Western Bulldogs – after a pre-season knee injury – against the rampant Demons on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Joining Morris as a Bulldogs inclusion is Mitch Honeychurch, while Zaine Cordy (concussion) and Bailey Dale (foot stress reaction) go out.

Mitch Wallis and Josh Dunkley, who were dropped last week, are not even listed as emergencies.

Melbourne is unchanged.

Hawthorn has brought back Tim O'Brien and Daniel Howe for Mitch Lewis and David Mirra as the Hawks prepare to take on an unchanged Port Adelaide in Launceston.

Lyons is not the only casualty at Gold Coast, with Jack Leslie, Brad Scheer and Brayden Crossley also dumped.

Matt Rosa (hamstring) made it five outs for the Suns, who regained stars Tom Lynch (knee), Jack Martin (illness) and Sam Day (suspension) and promoted Jesse Joyce and Will Brodie.

Their opponent, Geelong, swapped Esava Ratugolea (broken ankle) and omitted duo Cory Gregson and Stewart Crameri for Wylie Buzza, Lachie Fogarty and Lincoln McCarthy, who is in for first game since round three last year.

Defender Dylan Grimes (back) returns for Richmond's Dreamtime at the 'G clash with Essendon after being a late withdrawal last week.

Bachar Houli (groin) is the Tigers' only out and coach Damien Hardwick told reporters he may not be available until round 15.

Star Bomber Michael Hurley (hamstring) returns from a fortnight out to replace fellow backman Patrick Ambrose (calf).

Luke Shuey and Jackson Nelson bolster West Coast's squad for Saturday night's match with St Kilda at Optus Stadium.

Chris Masten (hamstring) joins Sheed in making way, while Rowan Marshall and Maverick Weller are the Saints' ins for Jake Carlisle (suspension) and Luke Dunstan (shoulder).

Brody Mihocek will be Collingwood's fourth debutant in 2018, with Brayden Maynard and Daniel Wells – after being rested last week – also in and Sam Murray among the other possible additions.

The Dockers lose Stephen Hill (quad) and Aaron Sandilands (concussion), on top of omitting veteran Danyle Pearce, and could hand ruckman Scott Jones and midfielder Stefan Giro their first game.

North Melbourne dropped Ryan Clarke, recalled Majak Daw and Paul Ahern and Tom Murphy could make their AFL debut against Brisbane at Etihad Stadium.

Matt Eagles (abdominal) is the only confirmed out for the Lions.

Paul Seedsman (adductor) will return for Adelaide against Greater Western Sydney, after being a late scratching in Alice Springs on Sunday.

The Giants, who regained skipper Phil Davis (concussion), have confirmed key defender Sam Taylor will make his debut as the injured Tim Mohr's replacement.
