FREMANTLE has suffered a very late blow ahead of its clash against Brisbane on Sunday with Aaron Sandilands forced out with a calf injury.

Sandilands was expected to line up for the Dockers, but received medical attention for a right calf complaint during the warm-up.

Ryan Nyhuis came into the side and is expected to play in defence, with Michael Apeness assuming primary rucking duties.

The injury is the latest in a series of setbacks in the last two seasons for Sandliands, who managed just 15 games in 2016 and 2017 due to rib and hamstring injuries.

His absence is a fillip for Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin in his 150th game.
