RECENT history won't count against veterans Brett Deledio and Ryan Griffen when Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron sits down to pick his team to face the Swans in their elimination final at the SCG next week.
Deledio has had a constant struggle with calf and Achilles issues since he arrived at the Giants at the end of 2016, and hasn't played since he suffered another calf setback against Carlton in round 20 at Etihad Stadium.
The 31-year-old reeled off some of his best footy earlier in the season, but has played just three times since round six.
But the dual All Australian trained well on Friday, and he'll make a strong case to be picked against Sydney if he maintains that form on the track into next week.
Griffen has managed 15 games this year after an ankle issue saw him start the year late, and separate hamstring problems saw him miss four of the last six games of the home-and-away season.
Two separate ankle syndesmosis injuries limited him to just three appearances in 2017.

Cameron said on Friday that the duo's past will be talked about at selection, but won't stop them being picked.
"The things they have as an advantage is they've been around for 13 or 14 years, they've played finals footy, and they're experienced players," he said.
"When they play their best footy they add a serious amount of value to our 22.
"They've got some work to do, they're not there yet. They've got to tick a number of boxes before we even put their name into consideration.
"Yes, they've had some injuries in the past, but that's going to be a good conversation at match committee, whether we think they're ready to play."
The lead-up to the Sydney derby final has been dominated by talk surrounding the Giants' injured stars, with Toby Greene (hamstring), Sam Taylor (hamstring), Matt de Boer (hamstring) and Aidan Corr (groin) all in the frame to return, along Zac Williams (Achilles), who has played the last two games in the NEAFL after missing the rest of the year.
Of that group, Greene, Taylor and de Boer completed the short skills session on Friday and moved well.
Greene is a certainty to play if he gets though next week without any setbacks, and while Cameron said he understands the speculation about his line-up, he stressed that just because certain players are potentially available, mass changes shouldn't be expected.
"None of the guys will be considered if we don't think they've done enough of what we think is required to play an AFL game," he said.
"There's crucial decisions to be made, but we're really confident that whoever we pick can help us take it up to the Swans.
"You need a fit and healthy 22 to go up against them because it's going to go down to the wire, and if you don't you'll fall short."
