MELBOURNE has dumped Dom Tyson for the second time this year as part of four axings in the wake of its shock defeat to St Kilda on Sunday.

Harrison Petty, Mitch Hannan and Sam Weideman also won't play in the Demons' Darwin clash with Fremantle, while forgotten goalsneak Jeff Garlett is in for his first game since round five.

Elsewhere, former Melbourne forward Jack Watts' SANFL stint is over at Port Adelaide and Jack Gunston and Matthew Kreuzer are back for Hawthorn and Carlton, respectively.

Tom Lynch is another big name returning – in place of David Mackay (ribs) – in time to face Richmond on Friday night in Adelaide's second date with the Tigers since losing last year's Grand Final.

Reigning premier Richmond has turned to young duo Callum Moore and Corey Ellis to replace Nick Vlastuin (suspended) and Reece Conca (dislocated ankle).

Kreuzer is one of a quartet of inclusions at the Blues, who regain Dale Thomas, Caleb Marchbank and Lochie O'Brien for their match against an unchanged Brisbane.

But the axe fell on Levi Casboult and ex-Kangaroo Aaron Mullett, while Carlton has managed gun draftee Paddy Dow and lost Jarrod Garlett to injury.

Tom Jonas, Aidyn Johnson and Darcy Byrne-Jones join Watts as quality additions for Port Adelaide, which hosts St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

Jasper Pittard (hamstring), Sam Gray (ankle) and omitted pair Jack Hombsch and Todd Marshall make way, while the Saints brought in Jimmy Webster, Logan Austin, Sam Gilbert and Nathan Wright.

St Kilda, which is hunting a third win in a row, dropped Bailey Rice and lost Nathan Brown (hamstring), Jake Carlisle (punctured lung) and Josh Battle (eye socket).

Premiership players Shane Biggs and Caleb Daniel are back for the Western Bulldogs, who lost Bailey Williams (foot) and luckless Lin Long (broken collarbone).

Gunston and Teia Miles are in for the Bulldogs' opponent Hawthorn, while Will Langford (finger) and the out-of-favour Tim O'Brien go out.

Bradley Hill headlines the Dockers' inclusions for the game against Melbourne in the Top End.

Ethan Hughes and Sean Darcy are also in for Fremantle, while the Demons' remaining additions are Charlie Spargo, Sam Frost and Billy Stretch.

The Dockers dropped Ryan Nyhuis and lost injured duo Nat Fyfe and Hayden Ballantyne.

Ben Jacobs (concussion) is set to return after a two-match absence for North Melbourne's Etihad Stadium contest with Gold Coast.

Luke Davies-Uniacke, ruckman Braydon Preuss and possible debutant Will Walker are other Kangaroo options for Mason Wood (hamstring) and Tom Murphy (omitted).

Jack Scrimshaw could be in for his first game this season for the Suns, who lost another top-10 pick in Ben Ainsworth to a leg injury and axed Jacob Dawson.

Levi Greenwood, Adam Oxley and Sam Murray are among Collingwood's options to replace Lynden Dunn after the defender's season-ending knee injury.

The Pies are preparing for an MCG blockbuster with in-form Essendon, which could include Aaron Francis.

Aiden Bonar and Brent Daniels could make their AFL debut for Greater Western Sydney against West Coast at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

The Giants, who will be without Jon Patton (knee) and Jacob Hopper (calf), are also considering handing Adam Kennedy his first match since he ruptured his left ACL in round seven last year.

Oscar Allen could play his first game for the Eagles, with Dom Sheed and Nathan Vardy in the mix and Fraser McInnes and Liam Ryan the confirmed outs.
