RICHMOND superstar Dustin Martin will enter Monday night's Brownlow Medal as the shortest priced favourite ever.

CrownBet has placed Martin as the $1.04 favourite to become the Tigers' fifth Brownlow medallist.

By comparison, last year's winner, Geelong's Patrick Dangerfield, was the $1.15 favourite to take home the honour.

Punters are also backing Martin to break the record Dangerfield set last year for the most votes won by a player under the system where a player can earn a maximum of three votes in a game.

Dangerfield polled 35 votes on the way to his historic win in 2016, but Martin polling more than 36.5 votes (or 37 or more) is priced at $1.77.

Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell ($13) and Greater Western Sydney gun Josh Kelly ($17) are the only other two players entertained as possible upsets to Martin.

Dangerfield's late-season suspension has ruled him out of Brownlow contention, but his ineligibility doesn't mean you can't predict how many votes last year's winner will poll.

CrownBet is offering a market on the total number of votes Dangerfield will win, with 29 or fewer the shortest price at $5.
