WESTERN Bulldogs defender Jason Johannisen insists he hasn't lost trust in teammate Lin Jong, despite reports the out-of-contract Bulldog had a night-time tour of Collingwood's facilities last week.

News Corp has reported Jong met with a Magpies' official in the days before he played in Bulldogs' thrilling win over the Sydney Swans last Saturday.

It is also understood the 23-year-old's management and the Bulldogs have been unable to agree to terms on a new deal.

Johannisen told AFL.com.au the news of Jong's Collingwood visit hadn't made him question his teammates' commitment to the Bulldogs for the rest of the season.

"No not at all; I have 100 per cent trust in my teammates whenever we run out on the field," he said.

"We haven't read into that too much. Contracts are a part of the AFL, so it's just going to be up to Lin and the club to decide what he does."

The defender said he would love Jong to continue his career at the Whitten Oval beyond this year.

"I think he provides a lot for our club and I love playing with him on the field.," Johannisen said.

Jong has played just seven senior games in 2016, bringing his total to 30 in five seasons.

AFL rules stipulate that players can't sign contracts with new clubs before the November trade period begins.

Johannisen was speaking at  the AFL's multicultural round launch in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Jong, who is also a multicultural ambassador, was invited to attend the lunch but was a late withdrawal.

Western Bulldogs officials have not returned AFL.com.au's request for further comment.
