STAR goalkicker Jeremy Cameron believes Saturday's all-Sydney qualifying final took the rivalry between the Giants and the Swans to an all-new level.

The fiery clash, played in front of over 60,000 fans at ANZ Stadium, was played at an intensity that would have been foreign to most of the GWS players, but the occasion failed to bother the finals debutants.

Cameron said he was proud of the way his teammates handled the physical encounter, given only six Giants had previously played finals footy, and the game had definitely enhanced the feeling between the two sides.

"I think it was huge for both clubs," Cameron said on Sunday.

"It was great to come up a quality side and we love playing the best sides, that's how we can really gauge how good we really can be.

"We were really proud as a group to just go out there and play our footy.

"We have a lot of trust in each other and the way we go about things, and a lot of belief inside the club.

"We know the Swans are a really good contested ball side, and they bring the intensity, so we knew from the start that that was the sort of game we were in for."

The only man to ever win the Giants goalkicking since their inception, Cameron finished with 4.4 against the Swans, taking his tally to 53 for the season.

Cameron's effort was even more impressive given he was opposed to All Australian defender Dane Rampe, who he outpointed in several one-on-one duels inside 50.

The gun Giant said he'll take plenty of confidence from his personal form, but also praised the work of his fellow forwards.

"I know Dane (Rampe) is a really, really good player and the last few times he's really got me," he said.

"Going into the game I just wanted to do the little things well.

"Leon (Cameron) spoke to me about working on my defence first, and opportunities will come off the back of that.

"I think going in with that sort of mindset, not just for myself but the whole team, really helped a lot on the night.

"One thing we've done all year as a forward line group, we've all played our role and someone different keeps stepping up.

"The last few weeks it was Jonny (Patton), and he had (Heath) Grundy, so it was my turn last night.

"In the prelim it could be Rory Lobb's turn, it doesn't really matter.

"Toby (Greene) played some good footy again and if Stevie (Johnson) had his kicking boots on he would have nailed a few goals as well.

"It was a great team effort."
