A HOST of star recruits went to work in unfamiliar surroundings on Monday, with Daniel Wells, Jordan Lewis and Dion Prestia among those starting the next chapter of their football careers at new clubs.

Former North Melbourne gun Wells and ex-Fremantle forward Chris Mayne were in action as Collingwood's entire squad linked up for the first time this pre-season at the Holden Centre.

Four-time Hawthorn premiership midfielder Jordan Lewis shed brown and gold for red and blue as he officially started life as a Melbourne player.

Meanwhile, former Gold Coast onballer Prestia was joined by ex-Cats tough nut Josh Caddy and ex-Swans big man Toby Nankervis at Punt Rd as the vast majority of Richmond's squad returned.

There was no Gary Ablett as the Suns' playing group came together, however Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker and gun midfielder Rory Sloane both cut their holidays short and sweated it out in 30-degree heat as the Crows' youngsters returned.
