The moment: Could a season be defined by one moment? With seconds remaining in the first half, Nick Riewoldt stretched for a mark with Simon Prestigiacomo breathing down his neck and was left clutching his right hamstring. In obvious pain, Riewoldt looked a sorry sight on crutches and with a bag of ice on 2010's most talked-about injury thus far.

2. North Melbourne 17.14 (116) d West Coast 13.13 (99) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: Has there ever been a sharper turnaround in form than Brent Harvey's? Seven days after having five touches against the Saints, Boomer stole limelight with a dazzling 44-touch display. The best moment was not a touch but a length-of-the field run, weaving past Eagles opponents at will. Seven bounces later, he let rip - with the point of the century.

3. Brisbane Lions 16.12 (108) d Port Adelaide 11.12 (81) at AAMI Stadium

The moment: Jonathan Brown might be in devastating touch, but even the greats sometimes have to win ugly. There was chaos in the goal square during the first quarter as Brown needed several attempts before finally scrambling to kick a goal on the line. Adding to the confusion, the goal umpire lost his footing - right in front of the Power cheer squad.

4. Sydney Swans 16.15 (111) d Richmond Tigers 7.14 (56) at the SCG

The moment: The Swans continue their bright start to the season, and Nick Malceski and Rhyce Shaw turned on some razzle-dazzle on the half-back flank. Separate one-twos preceded a no-look, over-the-shoulder handball and a pass to Adam Goodes, before Ben McGlynn put the icing on the cake for his second. Champagne footy!

5. Essendon 13.17 (95) d Carlton 10.15 (75) at the MCG

The moment: Dustin Fletcher is the oldest player in the AFL and has seen a few tricks in his time. So when 100-gamer Eddie Betts marked on a tight angle mid-way through the third term and had only the goals ahead of him, Fletcher knew what he might have been thinking. Betts took his chance, but Fletcher’s goal-saving tackle proved decisive in a tight match.

6. Melbourne 7.15 (57) d Adelaide 5.11 (41) at the MCG

The moment: Melbourne sealed its first win of the season through skipper James McDonald, who thumped a goal into the Great Southern Stand and celebrated by giving an Allen Jakovich-like high-five with a Demon fan in the crowd. His run into an open goal capped off some fine work by the Dees, starting at half-back via a Mark Jamar hit-out from a boundary throw-in.

7. Western Bulldogs 14.16 (100) d Hawthorn 12.12 (84) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: It was the Dogs at the final siren but Hawthorn forward Cyril Rioli was the star of the game. His fourth and final goal was a beauty. The agile youngster collected the ball in the middle, dished off a handball to Jordan Lewis before receiving it back and firing home from 50m. Pure class.

8. Fremantle 18.17 (125) d Geelong 17.16 (118) at Subiaco Oval

The moment: Sunday's thriller might have had a few aggrieved Cats fans tearing up their clothes, but speedster David Wojcinski beat them to it. Nic Suban clawed Wojo's No. 40 jumper from his back, and it ripped in half when he tried to put it back on. Wojcinski ran from the field looking like a dishevelled Roman soldier and play stopped until his return.
