Danny Stanley could be a valuable addition to your AFL Fantasy team

GOLD COAST
The Suns were every fantasy player's best friend in 2011, when they rolled out 23 debutants, making everyone's job of finding bargain-priced players easy. However, Guy McKenna's team slid towards Fantasy obscurity in its second season, providing few 'cash cows' and even fewer consistent big scorers. As a unit, they ranked last for kicks and last for tackles, two staples of fantasy scoring. That was despite Gary Ablett's continued stellar form. The skipper finished behind only Dane Swan in scoring average across the AFL. Alongside Ablett, expect rookie Jaeger O'Meara to be a popular selection this season. - Mark Macgugan

THE TOP SCORERS
Gary Ablett
2012 AFL Fantasy average score:
125
2013 AFL Fantasy Dream Team price: $642,500
2013 AFL Fantasy position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Dream Team superstar. Scored 2494 points in 2012 – second in the AFL. A must-have who is worth every cent.

Harley Bennell
2012 average score:
85
2013 price: $438,300
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Showed glimpses of brilliance last season, including a score of 156 against Melbourne in round 19. Needs more consistency.

Trent McKenzie
2012 average score:
71
2013 price: $363,800
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged a tick over 70 in 18 games last season. Showed some promising signs but not on my radar just yet.

Jared Brennan
2012 average score:
73
2013 price: $375,500
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Not doubting his talent, but consistency is an issue. Scored less than 70 eight times last year. I’d pass.

Danny Stanley
2012 average score:
92
2013 price: $476,400
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Finished 2012 with the second-highest Dream Team average at the Suns. Plays hard and finds lots of the ball. Consider.
Brandon Matera
2012 average score:
69
2013 price: $354,000
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: There’s no doubting his talent but not ready for a Dream Team gig just yet. Failed to reach triple figures in any of his 17 games last season.

Matthew Shaw
2012 average score:
59
2013 price: $306,400
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged under 60 last season and just doesn’t win enough of the ball to come under consideration.

Tom Lynch
2012 average score:
66
2013 price: $338,500
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Strong forward who finished the year with scores of 82 and 90. Will improve but still not in my plans.

Dion Prestia
2012 average score:
75
2013 price: $386,400
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Solid young midfielder who will be hoping for a huge 2013 after some handy Dream Team efforts last season.

Campbell Brown
2012 average score: 53
2013 price: $274,100
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Has never been a great Dream Team scorer and can miss too much of the action. Definite pass.
