X-factor, Rising Star or Mr Reliable?X-factor. Like Daw, is one of few rookie ruckmen with a chance to play senior football, meaning he has potential to be a valuable squad member.

X-factor. Is no certainty to play games, but if he does, his raw athleticism will be exciting to watch. Whether that translates to big Fantasy scores is another question.

Value for moneyBargain-priced and a chance to skyrocket if he gets senior opportunities.

They don't come much cheaper, so he'll be a handy cash cow if he establishes himself as a senior player.

Job securityWill come into senior contention if Darren Jolly or Quinten Lynch get injured, but even then will be battling with Ben Hudson and Jarrod Witts for a spot.  Todd Goldstein likes to handle ruck duties on his own, and the Roos have three established tall forwards in Drew Petrie, Lachlan Hansen and Robbie Tarrant. Daw will have to wait for one of those to get injured, or knock the door down at VFL level.

Where he'll playCan play forward or in the ruck, which will work in his favour if he gets in a selection battle with Witts and Hudson.Best suited to a tall forward/resting ruckman role.
Injury historyA back injury kept Grundy out of the first week of the NAB Cup and he is on a modified program to get his core strength up. Likely to miss a month of the pre-season.

He's had some injury concerns here and there, but durability is not a significant question mark.
The case forA huge lad who arrived at Collingwood physically ready for senior footy. Was the best under-age ruckman in the country in 2012 and coach Nathan Buckley may be keen to try him out.

Has been with the Kangaroos for three seasons without playing a senior game, so his time must be drawing near. Was   elevated to the senior list in the off-season in a sign of confidence from coach Brad Scott.
The case againstIt's highly unlikely that he'll play in round one and breaking into the Magpies' strong team will not be easy. There have also been rumours he has been dealing with a back problem.

Hard to see where he'll fit in the North line-up, and your Fantasy team won't score any points if he's playing in the VFL.

The verdict
Watch the NAB Cup for clues, but at this stage the older Daw may be slightly ahead.
