ADELAIDE is confident Jason Porplyzia will be fit for round one despite a stomach ulcer forcing the gun forward to spend Friday night in hospital.

Porplyzia had eight disposals and five tackles in his side's narrow three-point win over Carlton at AAMI Stadium on Friday night, before being rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

A series of medical tests revealed the ulcer.

Porplyzia enjoyed a stellar 2012 season, booting 30 goals from 22 games, after having managed just one game in 2011 due to a shoulder injury.

The minor setback isn't expected to keep the 28-year-old from his side's round one clash with Essendon on March 22, but Adelaide football manager Phil Harper said Porplyzia would take it easy this week.

“He will have a light week of training this week and will resume full training the following week,” Harper said.
