FREMANTLE forward Hayden Ballantyne will miss the round two clash with the Western Bulldogs after accepting a one-match ban offered by the match review panel for an early guilty plea.

Ballantyne was cited for an off-the-ball hit on West Coast's Scott Selwood on Saturday night at Patersons Stadium.

The incident took place in the first quarter of Fremantle's 28-point win, with video evidence and a medical report from the Eagles used in the assessment.

His charge incurred a penalty of 125 demerit points, and given the small forward's existing poor record, his one-match sanction would not have been able to be reduced with an early guilty plea.

Fremantle's decision means the AFL Tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night.
