GEELONG forward Daniel Menzel faces a nervous wait for scans to determine if he has any new knee damage after hobbling off in the VFL.

On the comeback trail following his third knee reconstruction, Menzel left the field and was unable to play out his side's win over Box Hill at Simmonds Stadium on Saturday.

The club confirmed Menzel, 21, has suffered an injury but the extent is unclear.

"Menzel will have scans on his knee this week to ascertain the extent of the injury," a club spokesman said in a statement.

"When the club has the results of these scans we will provide an update on Daniel's injury."

Menzel grabbed for his left knee in the second quarter but was able to walk off the ground.

Early signs were optimistic, as club medical staff reported he was having the knee iced "as a precaution".

Menzel's latest knee reconstruction used the contentious LARS technique.
