WEST Coast coach John Worsfold says there's zero chance of a rival AFL side poaching Nic Naitanui while the star ruckman is still contracted to the Eagles.
Outgoing Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy rocked the boat earlier this week when he claimed he would trade an entire year of draft picks to snare Naitanui.
Sheedy won't have the chance to test the waters on that front, given he'll be replaced by Leon Cameron after this season.
But even if Sheedy did manage to stay at the helm, his bid to snare Naitanui is doomed to fail.
Naitanui is contracted to the Eagles until the end of 2014, and Worsfold said there was no way the club would consider trading the All Australian, who kicked the match-winning goal in last week's triumph over North Melbourne.
"While he's contracted here, it's not in our plans for any of that to change. That's the short answer," Worsfold said on Wednesday.
"Nic's a wonderful young man, level-headed with great values. We're very lucky to have that package here."
The Giants have used Naitanui's image to promote Saturday's clash between the two sides at Skoda Stadium and Worsfold conceded the Eagles will consider resting players, possibly as early as this week against GWS.
"That's something that we'll consider, as in the players' workloads," Worsfold said.
"We've got a long break coming up after this week's game.
"Nine days, and a bye the week after that, so that's part of our planning for the year about workloads.
"So there's various things that we look at over the course of the whole season."
Worsfold will be forced into changes this week regardless of resting players or not, after losing Sharrod Wellingham (left ankle) and Will Schofield (dislocated finger) for significant periods following the win over North Melbourne.
Worsfold said Wellingham was in a positive frame of mind despite being ruled out for at least five weeks, having already missed the first five rounds of the year when he damaged his right ankle during the pre-season.
"He's disappointed, but he's also positive in that this is not as serious as the other injury he had, and he's really clear on what he's got to do to get back and be available to play even quicker," he said.
Mitch Brown was unlucky to be squeezed out against the Kangaroos and would be a straightforward replacement for Schofield, but replacing Wellingham might not be so simple.
Andrew Embley had 28 touches and a goal in the WAFL in his first game back from a foot injury sustained against Melbourne in round three.
But Worsfold said Embley is no certainty given the depth of talent available.
"He's available for selection but we'll take into account form of other players," he said.
"In the past he would come straight in but we've got some guys in really good form in (Mark) Hutchings and (Bradd) Dalziell that we can consider, so therefore it's about what's the best team going in this week."
