PlayerInjuryEstimated Return
Lewis JohnstonKneeTest
Brodie MartinAnkle2-3 weeks
Jared PetrenkoShoulderTBC
Brent ReillyShoulderTBC
Taylor WalkerKneeSeason

The Doc says: Reilly has a badly dislocated right shoulder and scans will confirm significant damage. The Crows may decide on corrective surgery to avoid any risk of recurrence this year. Petrenko is likely to be ready for a senior return – he didn't play in the SANFL but got through main training last week. Johnston may return via SANFL this week.

 Brisbane Lions
PlayerInjuryEstimated Return
Claye BeamsKneeSeason
Daniel MerrettGroinTest
Jared PolecAnkleAvailable
Stephen WrigleyKneeSeason

The Doc says: Merrett is unlikely after being a late withdrawal last week with a groin- these can take two-three weeks to heal fully. Polec played in the NEAFL on the weekend.

Patrick McCarthyFoot5 weeks
Marc Murphy CheekboneTest
Rhys O'KeeffeFootIndefinite
Simon WhiteAnkleTest

The Doc says: Bootsma has a low-grade hamstring strain and will miss two to three weeks. Murphy is likely to train fully but may consider wearing a protective helmet type with cheekbone padding if selected – if it's not this week then he's likely for round 16. White is an outside chance and Carrazzo played VFL and will push for senior return.

 Collingwood

Ben ReidHamstringTest
Dale ThomasAnkleIndefinite
Alan TooveyKneeSeason

The Doc says: Beams (14 weeks out) and Goldsack (nine weeks) are likely to return in the VFL after both have missed lengthy periods. Jolly is an outside chance but Reid probably won't risk his hammy until next week.

 ESSENDON
PlayerInjuryEstimated Return
Stewart CrameriAnkleTest
Dustin FletcherGroinTest
Heath HockingCalf1-2 weeks

The Doc says: Crameri will need time for his right ankle lateral ligament tear to settle - the club expects him to be tested this week but he is most doubtful to be right to play. Hocking will miss at least two weeks while Fletcher (round 11 adductor) was always likely to miss 2-3 weeks but is now ready to test later in the week.

 Fremantle

Matthew PavlichAchillesTest
Aaron SandilandsHamstringTest

The Doc says: Sandilands may play in the WAFL for part of match after missing three months. Duffield will miss two-three weeks at a minimum but Barlow and Mundy may be tested – Barlow is more likely. Pavlich could be a surprise selection if he trains fully all week.

Travis VarcoeShoulderTest

The Doc says: Rivers should play in the VFL but Varcoe may have another week at training and then play VFL. Thurlow broke his zygoma (cheekbone) in the VFL and required surgery to correct a depression – he could play in three weeks.

Liam ShielsAnkle2-4 weeks
Matthew SpangherHamstring2-3 weeks

The Doc says: Gibson was extremely lucky to avoid a serious neck injury after his flexion/impact landing against the Lions. Ellis will likely miss three-four games with a calf strain. Shiels has a sore right ankle andwill miss two-three weeks at a minimum. Puopolo must still be in doubt but Guerra is likely. Rioli is the dilemma – has missed 10 weeks and badly lacks match condition – will more likely play in the VFL.

Dylan RobertonAnkleTest
Adam SchneiderHamstring1 week

The Doc says: Hayes had limited game time in a half in the VFL on the weekend – he did extra running after the game but may need another low-level hit-out. Roberton has a new lateral ligament sprain and will be slow all week, leaving him in doubt.

  Sydney Swans

Tommy WalshHamstringSeason

The Doc says: Goodes did not settle as the Swans hoped and developed signs of a loose tissue fragment in his knee. Arthroscopic surgery will sort out the injury but recovery may take five-six weeks. Morton had a tight quad in the warm-up and was a late withdrawal – he's still at risk this week. Mumford is a good chance to play after missing four weeks with a depressed zygoma fracture surgery. Shaw has been a challenge – has not played since round two but is due back any week now and will be well down on match fitness.
