COLLINGWOOD recruit Clinton Young faces a battle to be ready for the Magpies' finals campaign after confirming he faces at least a month on the sidelines.

The long-kicking midfielder, who has struggled with injuries since crossing from Hawthorn prior to this season, was hurt in the closing stages of Friday night's 27-point win over Adelaide at the MCG.

He tweeted late on Saturday night the injury would force him out for at least a month.

With seven rounds remaining before the finals, Young may run out of time to force his way back into the Collingwood line-up as the Magpies prepare for September.

In just his second game for the Magpies, Young finished with ice on his hamstring after feeling it go during a chase in the dying minutes of the final quarter.

It is yet another setback for the 27-year-old in a year plagued by calf and hamstring problems, and came at the end of a promising performance in which he had collected 21 disposals.

Young crossed from Hawthorn as a free agent at the end of last season, having played 116 games over eight seasons in brown and gold.
