RICHMOND'S good run with injuries has hit a speed bump with Matt Arnot out for the season and Tyrone Vickery heading a list of players in doubt for Saturday's clash with Hawthorn.

Arnot, who has played four games since his round 14 debut, has been diagnosed with a back injury and won't play again this year.

"Unfortunately scans have shown he's got a stress fracture in his back, which was a little bit of a surprise for us, and he'll be out for the season," elite performance manager Peter Burge told the club's website.

"It's really disappointing for Matt and for Richmond.

"He'd been showing so much for us so we'll just get him back in the pre-season and get him going."

Vickery was stretchered off in the fourth quarter of the Tigers' 47-point loss to the Sydney Swans on Sunday with concussion.

He will be monitored this week but is not expected to recover in time to face the Hawks at the MCG given their tight turnaround between games.

"Ty's got concussion but he's OK – he was up and walking after the game," Richmond general manager of football Dan Richardson told AFL.com.au.

"I would think with a short break it would be unlikely he would come up."

And, Aaron Edwards is in doubt to replace him after suffering a corked shin in the VFL on Sunday.

Edwards was on crutches after the game and had scans on Monday, which leaves him needing to prove his fitness later in the week.

Last week, the Tigers' injury list had just four players on it – this week, it has ballooned to nine, with Ricky Petterd (groin) another casualty of the Swans' loss.

"He had an incident during the game kicking and unfortunately suffered a very small groin strain," Burge said.

"He'll probably miss one to two weeks."

Matt Dea (shoulder), Ben Griffiths and Brett O'Hanlon (both concussion) are also facing fitness tests after Sunday's VFL game.

And, Jake King is no certainty to return from the hamstring that kept him from facing the Swans on Sunday.

In better news, defender Dylan Grimes will progress to the VFL seniors this weekend after getting through a half in the reserves in his first game since round six.

Grimes will build his game time with the intention of possibly pushing for senior selection the following round after finally overcoming a foot problem.
