SUMMARY
These are two teams playing for little more than pride after the Lions were bundled out of finals calculations with a last-start loss against Port Adelaide. With seven wins already they can match last season's tally of 10 with a strong final five rounds. It might just be enough to extend coach Michael Voss' tenure at the club. On the flipside there's St Kilda with just three wins and coming off a 101-point shellacking by premiership fancies Geelong. The Saints are also fighting for the future of coach Scott Watters and can't simply limp to the finish line. However, the Lions should make it four on the trot at the Gabba.

THE SIX POINTS

1. The Lions and St Kilda last met in round 16, 2012 at the Gabba, with the Saints winning narrowly by 13 points. The three Brownlow votes went to Lenny Hayes with 29 possessions.

2. The Saints have won the last four matches between the clubs, but all have been decided by less than three goals.

3. This will be the 41st clash between the teams and nothing separates them with 20 wins each. Despite losing the past three at the Gabba, the Lions hold a 13-5 advantage on their home ground.

4. Opposing captains Nick Riewoldt and Jonathan Brown enjoy impressive records in this fixture. Riewoldt has kicked 38 goals in 14 games, while Brown has kicked 30 in 12.

5. St Kilda continues to struggle offensively this season, averaging just 78 points per game, ranking them third last and in front of only Melbourne and Greater Western Sydney.

6. Electric Lions midfielder Dayne Zorko is quickly ascending into the game's upper echelon. Still far from reaching the minimum '40 game' criteria, Zorko is now ranked 60th overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings and continually tracking upwards.
