FREMANTLE midfielder Jayden Pitt has confirmed his retirement from the Dockers, but hasn't given up hope of playing at the highest level again.

Pitt played 10 games over his three seasons with the Dockers, but was unable to play on after a routine screening earlier this year revealed a heart complaint.

Fremantle general manager of football operations Chris Bond has told the club website it is unsafe for Pitt to take to the field at the moment.

"It's extremely disappointing for Jayden to reach such a decision but his long term health and welfare are paramount," Bond told fremantlefc.com.au.

"On current medical advice it is not safe for Jayden to continue playing at the highest level.

"However, Jayden, his family, the club and his management will endeavour to identify possible avenues for him to one day return to playing AFL level football."

Pitt was taken at pick 20 in the 2010 draft, and says he will always be thankful for the opportunity to join the Dockers.

"I want to acknowledge the tremendous support I have had from Fremantle during my three years at the club and also thank all the Freo members and fans for their great support and, in particular, for the care and concern they have shown for me in the past few months," Pitt said.

"I'll really miss the players, the club and camaraderie but I know that I'm leaving Fremantle a better person and that will no doubt stand me in good stead for the future."

The Dockers also confirmed five players have been delisted following its post-season review, with Peter Faulks, Jesse Crichton, Alex Forster, Haiden Schloithe and Alex Howson not offered contracts for next season.

In other list changes, Matt Taberner has been upgraded to the senior list for the 2014 season.
