CARLTON has declared that utility Mitch Robinson is unlikely to leave the club under any circumstances.

The 24-year-old has been linked with Port Adelaide after a tempestuous first season under Mick Malthouse.

However recruiting manager Shane Rogers told Gillette Trade Radio he expected Robinson to be with the Blues next season.

"Under no circumstances is Mitch Robinson going anywhere in my view," Rogers said.

Robinson played 21 games in 2013 and saved his best game for the elimination final against Richmond.

Malthouse admitted during the year that Robinson was a challenging player to coach.

The Blues are expected to be active in the trade period and will put in an official offer to restricted free agent Dale Thomas when the window opens on Friday.

It is also getting used to the prospect of losing small forward and free agent Eddie Betts when the trade period kicks off, with an offer expected to come from Adelaide which is likely to be well above what the Blues can offer.

AFL.com.au understands that Carlton has told several parties they are prepared to discuss a good trade offer for all but six players on the list, yet they are being more circumspect publicly.

However the price placed on players such as Robinson and Chris Yarran would be too high for most clubs to contemplate.

Malthouse declared Bryce Gibbs and Matthew Kreuzer to be ‘untouchables’ amidst speculation that the Blues would offer Greater Western Sydney a significant package to get likely number one draft pick Tom Boyd.

Both [Gibbs and Kreuzer] are required players so I could not see under any circumstances they would be going anywhere," Rogers said on Wednesday.

Rogers said it was unlikely Carlton would be securing the number one pick.

Richmond is one of several clubs interested in ruckman Shaun Hampson.

Rogers said he thought a second round pick might be a reasonable trade for the big ruckman whose opportunities have been limited under Malthouse.

Veteran Heath Scotland has not made a decision on whether he would play on in 2014. The 33-year-old played 20 games in 2013.

Rogers said the club would know more about Scotland's intentions next week.
