The decorated Brisbane Lions midfielder deliberated for months before deciding to retire late last week, and promptly declared his intentions to jump straight into the coaching ranks.
The Lions have already offered him a three-year deal as an assistant to new coach Justin Leppitsch, but they have a fight to keep him as other clubs join the queue.
Gold Coast has declared its hand to nab the 2002 Brownlow medallist, while the Sydney Swans have also made an offer.
It is believed West Coast is also interested in luring Black back to his home state.
The 34-year-old is currently in Perth for another week visiting his family and taking some time out to decide on his future.
Speaking after Black's retirement announcement last Friday, Leppitsch hoped the three-time All Australian would decide quickly.
"He's indicated he'd like to stick around in Brisbane, but he's taken three weeks to retire, so it'll probably take him another three weeks to tell me he's going to be a coach as well," Leppitsch joked.
"(A decision) by next week would be nice. At the moment it's an indication. I'm pretty sure there's eight or 10 clubs that have asked about his services as well.
"It's going to be up to Simon whether he wants to leave the state to chase his coaching dreams originally or have his first three years at the Lions."
Black's long-time coach Leigh Matthews has encouraged the veteran of 16 seasons to spread his coaching wings – whether it be initially or in the future – if he was serious about his coaching career.
