Former Tiger Tom Derickx will join the Sydney Swans as a delisted free agent

THE SYDNEY Swans have handed Tom Derickx a lifeline, signing the former Richmond ruckman as a delisted free agent.

Derickx was cut by the Tigers on October 30 after three seasons on the senior list, playing just two senior games.

Recruited as a mature-age player with pick No.63 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, the 26-year-old joins the Swans as a replacement for ruckman Shane Mumford, who left for Greater Western Sydney.

The West Australian was squeezed out at Richmond after versatile big man Shaun Hampson joined the club from Carlton as back-up for ruckman Ivan Maric.

Derickx played 17 games for VFL club Coburg in 2013 and had 60 hit-outs in a standout performance in round 19.

Otherwise, his year didn't reach any great heights, often sharing the ruck duties with Orren Stephenson.
