ESSENDON great Simon Madden has won a spot on the Bombers' board.

Madden and current director Phil Pryor received the most votes in a ballot to fill two positions for elected directors.

The unsuccessful candidates were long-term members Rob Harwood and Vito Guzzardi.

Madden and Pryor will be officially declared elected at the club's 140th annual general meeting, to be held at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds from 7pm on Monday, December 16.

In November, Madden told AFL.com.au that joining the Bombers' board would be his way of helping the club in its time of crisis.

Madden recently stepped down from a position with the AFL Players' Association

He shares the club record of 378 games with veteran Dustin Fletcher.

One of the all-time great ruckmen, Madden won four best and fairests and six All Australian selections, and was a member of Essendon's 1984-85 premierships.
