HEATH Scotland and Jaryd Cachia are free to play senior football for Carlton in round one after being promoted to the senior list as nominated rookies this week.

Clubs that don't have 40 primary listed players are eligible to promote a rookie before round one, if it fits within their total player payments.

Scotland, 33, agreed to be delisted last October and redrafted as a nominated rookie to allow the Blues to hold three picks at the NAB AFL Draft.

They used those selections to recruit Patrick Cripps (No.13 overall), Cameron Giles (No.39) and Nick Holman (No.51).

Cachia, 22, is in his second stint as a Carlton rookie and played 14 senior games last year, which won him the club's best first year player award.

The Blues will open their premiership season against Port Adelaide on March 16.
