FORMER News Corp Australia chief executive KimWilliams has been nominated to join the AFL Commission as the replacement forretired Commissioner Chris Lynch. 

The nomination was confirmed on Monday afternoonfollowing a meeting of Commissioners in Sydney.

Williams will stand for election at the March 4 annualgeneral meeting, with current Commissioners Linda Dessau and Richard Goyder re-nominatingand standing unopposed. 

Williams joins the Commission at a time when hisextensive media experience will be an asset leading into the game's next set ofmedia rights negotiations.  

Lynch offered his resignation from the Commission inMarch last year after moving overseas when he was appointed chief financialofficer of Rio Tinto.

However the League did not accept his resignation and
at the time Fitzpatrick said Lynch, who is now based in London, was a very valuablemember of the Commission.

The pair decided to review the role 12 months down thetrack.
