WESTERN BULLDOGS v ST KILDA
Simonds Stadium, 7.10pm AEDT, February 19

WEDNESDAY night’s NAB Challenge match between the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda will have a delayed start after a massive downpour that flooded Simonds Stadium.

Geelong received 50mm of rain in an hour just before 6pm AEDT which flooded the ground and the stadium.

However, the playing surface cleared up significantly and after officials pushed remaining water to the boundary line, the AFL confirmed the match would start at 7.40pm AEDT, 30 minutes behind schedule.

The delay was due to the Bulldogs' rooms being flooded, rather than the state of the ground.

"The Bulldogs' ability to prepare for the game was severely impacted," AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said.

Quarters will be reduced to 17 minutes plus time on to account for the delay.

Recruits Jack Billings and Billy Longer will start as subs for St Kilda, while Will Minson and Jack Redpath will start in the red vests for the Bulldogs.
