In summary, due to a six-year good record, he can accept a reprimand and 45 points towards his future record with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). Based on the video evidence available, the view of the umpire who laid the report on match-day and a medical report from the Port Adelaide Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two Offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Other incidents assessed:

Contact between Carlton’s Andrew Walker and Port Adelaide’s Justin Westhoff from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. Port Adelaide’s Jay Schulz had the ball and kicked forward to his teammate Westhoff. Walker was coming to the marking contest and attempted to spoil with his left arm. Walker made contact with Westhoff’s hand and the ball in his spoiling attempt and also makes high contact in the process. It was the view of the panel that Walker’s actions were a legitimate attempt to spoil the marking attempt and no further action was taken.
