BRISBANE Lions midfielder Jack Redden has agreed to a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2016.

Redden came to the Lions with pick 25 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft and has played 98 consecutive games since his debut in 2009.

The South Australian said there was never any doubt about wanting to remain a Lion.

"I really had no intentions of going home," Redden said.

"I love it up here. I love the club. It's been a great six years here so I'm rapt to sign another two-year deal."

Redden has seen just about everything in his five years at the club, from two finals in 2009, to a bottoming-out with just four wins in 2011, to a sacked coach in Michael Voss last year.

But the 24-year-old is confident that success is not far away under new coach Justin Leppitsch.

"I think he's just got a great understanding of the game," Redden said of Leppitsch.

"There's been a lot that's happened in the last six years.

"I was fortunate enough to play two finals, so I've experienced both sides.

"We've been not that competitive the last few years but I think with the young group we are heading in the right direction and I'm confident we'll play finals in the next couple of years."

Redden is one of the first Lions chosen each week with his combination of attack and defence.

He was ranked fourth in the AFL for tackles (147) in 2013 and averaged 22 disposals per game.

Redden joins teammate Sam Mayes as recent re-signings.

The second-year midfielder also committed to the club until the end of 2016 after a brilliant debut season.
