CARLTON utility Andrew Walker will miss the Blues' round two clash with Richmond after accepting a one-match ban for throwing Angus Monfries into the Etihad Stadium fence.

Walker, 27, was charged with engaging in rough conduct for his action against the Port Adelaide forward during the fourth quarter of Sunday night's game.

Walker slung Monfries into the fence in what was described by the Match Review Panel as intentional conduct, of low impact and to the body.

He will now be sidelined for next Thursday's MCG season opener against the Tigers, who will also be searching for their first win after losing to Gold Coast on Saturday night.

Walker will also carry 68.75 points for the next 12 months.

Sydney Swans midfielder Jarrad McVeigh will have 45 points hanging over his head for the next year after accepting a reprimand for striking Rhys Palmer.

McVeigh was offered the reprimand for his hit on Palmer during the Swans' loss to Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

The Swans' co-captain is free to face Collingwood in round two next Saturday in another game where both teams are searching for their opening victory.
