HAWTHORN skipper Luke Hodge and his predecessor Sam Mitchell remain in doubt to take on Fremantle in Friday night's Grand Final rematch.

However Brad Sewell and Ben Stratton have raised hopes they will be available to play for the depleted Hawks, after completing training on Tuesday morning.

Hodge (groin) ran and also walked timed laps, but didn't join the main group at the Ricoh Centre.

Mitchell meanwhile, who is battling a calf injury, only took part in light skills exercises.

Sewell joined in Hawthorn's full training as he pushes for a return from a hamstring injury.

Stratton (hamstring/calf) did the full session, including match simulation, although he appeared to pace himself through a sprint session that followed.

Both Sewell and Stratton were injured during Hawthorn's final practice game against Melbourne early last month and if they play on Friday night, will have been sidelined for 27 days.

Young gun Jed Anderson (shoulder) didn’t train, while key position swingman Matt Spangher was restricted to boxing exercises as he recovers from a corked leg.

Anderson and Spangher sat out the second half of Box Hill's 13-point VFL win over Williamstown last Saturday.
