BEAU Waters' season is over due to another shoulder operation.

The West Coast defender had shoulder surgery late last year and needed further surgery during the pre-season after an infection required inserted pins to be removed.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson declared last week that Waters, 28, was three weeks away from possibly playing as his shoulder was fully rehabilitated.

Simpson said that the 2012 All Australian simply needed conditioning after suffering a number of soft tissue injuries in the past and some minor setbacks this pre-season.

But now Waters requires another operation on his troublesome shoulder that will see him out for a further four months.

The 2006 premiership player has played just 120 matches in 11 seasons at the Eagles but is contracted until the end of 2015.

Waters stood down from the vice-captaincy during the pre-season in order to focus on his recovery from his injury issues.

More to come
