BRISBANE Lions midfielder Daniel Rich has been carried off Metricon Stadium with a possible rupture of his right anterior crucial ligament.

Rich's knee buckled awkwardly in a tackle during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Gold Coast.

He slumped straight to the ground clutching the knee and was helped off by Lions trainers before heading straight to the dressing-room.

Rich will need to undergo scans, but initial fears are the blonde midfielder has suffered the most serious of knee injuries.

He was substituted for James Aish almost immediately.

The Lions have a bad recent history of ACL injuries with Brent Staker and Claye Beams each suffering them in the past two years

More to come.
