Fremantle midfielder Stephen Hill has been withdrawn from Sunday's Western Derby squad with a hamstring injury.

Hill has been replaced in the 25-man squad by Matt de Boer, who was omitted from the squad on Thursday. The final 22 will be finalised on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Anthony Morabito's luckless run continues with the Fremantle midfielder struck down with tonsillitis just as he was poised to make a remarkable return to senior football.

The 22-year-old, who is returning from three knee reconstructions, has been quarantined from training over the past three days due to the illness.

On Tuesday Ross Lyon had flagged the possibility of Morabito playing as the substitute in the clash with West Coast.

"Unfortunately he's come down with severe tonsillitis, so he won't train today, he's been sent home," Lyon said on Friday.

"That’s unfortunate. He’s getting closer. He will play AFL football this year and really, with his capacities, he's virtually at AFL level."

Morabito has averaged 22 possessions in five outings for Peel Thunder in the WAFL this season. Lyon believes he will be right to play for Peel this weekend but the Dockers ruled him out of contention for the Derby earlier in the week.

"He was in the mix but we didn't have to make that decision so I can't put a definitive on it," Lyon said.

"He was crook over the last couple of days.

"Hopefully he'll still get to play in the WAFL on the weekend."

Hayden Ballantyne is a certainty to return after serving his one-week suspension for two separate incidents in round five against the Sydney Swans. His suspension was one of four the Dockers have suffered at senior and WAFL level this season while four more players have either received reprimands or been cited at AFL and WAFL level.

Lyon said Ballantyne had not been put on notice and the lively forward was remorseful for his error.

"I was disappointed, as was Hayden," Lyon said.

"(The media) have highlighted it and rightly so, there's been a bit of a spate of them.

"And typically teams I coach - a feature is we don't get reported, because we don't want our talent sitting in the grandstands.

"So Hayden's acknowledged it, and he plays on the edge.

"He would have been significant last week. I don't want Hayden to change too much.

"But when his aggression is chasing and at the ball, he's a pretty special little player for us. But he lost his way a little bit, there's no last notice.

"The buck stops with me as senior coach, as it should. I've spoken to the guys and said 'we've made a reputation about being really good competitors, chasing really hard and competing’.

"That stuff (reports) doesn't achieve anything anyway."
