CARLTON has signed Dylan Buckley for two years in a deal that ties him to the club until the end of 2016.

The 21-year-old has been a shining light for the Blues as they battled for form in the first eight rounds.

He earned a NAB Rising Star nomination after his performance in round two against Richmond, and has since established himself as a permanent fixture in the team.

He kicked a late goal in the club's extraordinary comeback win against West Coast. It was his first win with the club.

Buckley, the son of Blues' premiership player Jim, joined Carlton as a father/son selection in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

Carlton's football manager Andrew McKay described Buckley as an exciting player.

"Having supported Carlton his whole life, Dylan is very passionate about the club and we’re very happy to have him commit to terms to stay here," McKay said.

"We’ve certainly seen Dylan grow as a person and a player in his time at Carlton so far. He has worked really hard in the gym to add weight and build strength, and now he is starting to reap the benefits of all his hard work."

The club is yet to sign free agents Bryce Gibbs, Michael Jamison and Jarrad Waite.
