Steve Johnson and Chirs Dawes accept one-match bans
GEELONG midfielder Steve Johnson will miss Friday night's critical game with North Melbourne after entering an early guilty plea to a misconduct charge.
He was given a one-match ban by the Match Review Panel for making contact with the head of Fremantle's Ryan Crowley during last Saturday night's game.
The AFL Tribunal will not meet this week after all players accepted their MRP sanctions.
Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke accepted a reprimand for striking Johnson, and Melbourne forward Chris Dawes will miss the Demons' clash with Port Adelaide on May 31 after pleading guilty to striking Richmond defender Alex Rance.
Dawes was given a two-match sentence for the offence, but had it reduced to one game with an early guilty plea.
The MRP assessment of round nine found that Sydney Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery had no case to answer over his collision with Essendon defender Michael Hurley during Friday night's game at Etihad Stadium.
His teammate Nick Malceski was also cleared after his accidental head clash with umpire Troy Pannell.
Pannell was concussed and left the ground on a stretcher, but the MRP deemed it accidental.
As well, the MRP decided to take no action against Johnson for high contact on Fremantle's Michael Barlow that led to the Dockers' midfielder receiving a free kick.
