PROMISING St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster is the latest player to have fallen to the lures of the bye round, the Saints standing him down following an off-field incident two weeks ago.
Webster will play in the VFL this weekend, missing his second AFL match after his involvement in a scuffle in his home state of Tasmania.
The 20-year old returned home during the round 10 bye weekend and was involved in an alcohol-fuelled street incident where at least one punch was thrown.
Despite a strong showing in round nine, he was omitted for last week's clash against Collingwood.
After incidents at rival clubs prior to St Kilda's bye, the club chose to speak to players over their conduct away from the club during their break.
It had attempted to keep the ban under wraps but confirmed the decision to The Footy Show.
"Jimmy Webster was omitted from the St Kilda team last week for failing to meet the standards expected of our players during the mid-season break," St Kilda's Head of Football Chris Pelchen said.
"Jimmy will play with Sandringham in the VFL competition this weekend and is eligible for AFL selection from next week."
GWS Giants midfielder Toby Greene was charged by police with a string of offences after a late night bender in Caulfield on May 9.
Carlton's Simon White was also questioned by police for an altercation with a Blues fan during his round nine break.
Webster had enjoyed a solid start to the season, adding eight matches to the 11 he managed in last year's debut season.
