WHILE still to debut in the blue and white, North Melbourne forward prospect Mason Wood has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Drafted with pick No.41 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, Wood has been named as an emergency several times this year, and the Kangaroos are clearly happy with the trajectory of the versatile left-footer's career.

“Having only played VFL footy they (North's coaches) have obviously seen something in me and it was a pretty easy decision to sign on,” Wood told North's website.

“I couldn’t think of anyone that would want to leave because I think we all know we’ve got something special here.”

The 20-year old featured in this year's NAB Challenge for the Roos, before a strong start for Werribee in the VFL, where he kicked 16 goals in the first six games.

Wood underwent surgery in 2013 to repair a previous fracture at the bottom of his right thigh-bone which delayed his start to pre-season training this year.
