COLLINGWOOD is expected to give father-son prospect Darcy Moore a taste of VFL football against Essendon at Victoria Park on Saturday after naming him as its 23rd man for the clash.
The 23rd man rule allows clubs to provide talented young players with an opportunity to play in the VFL to aid their development.
The player is still able to play as many minutes as required.
Jake Kelly, the son of 1990 Collingwood premiership player, Craig, played three VFL games with the Magpies last season as a 23rd man. Kelly was put on the Crows' rookie list at the end of 2013.
Moore, the son of dual Brownlow medallist, Magpie and Melbourne great Peter Moore, has played with the Oakleigh Chargers this season.
He had an outstanding AFL Under-18 National Championships and was named All Australian at the end of that series.
He missed most of 2013 after an operation to fix a hip related issue.
Moore, who stands at 199cm, is eligible to be drafted at the 2014 AFL National Draft in November.
He is a highly rated player and is sure to come under serious consideration at Collingwood.
