SAM ROWE'S breakout season has been rewarded by Carlton, with the Blues re-signing the key defender for a further two years.
 
As revealed by AFL.com.au earlier this week, Rowe's new contract will see him remain a Blue until the end of the 2016 season.
 
The deal was confirmed on Wednesday night.
 
Rowe was initially offered a one-year contract but has agreed to a two-year extension after a terrific year in defence.
 
The 26-year-old has been one of coach Mick Malthouse's success stories of 2014, often taking the opposition's most dangerous tall forward and proving hard to beat. He has played all bar one game for the season. 

Rowe made his AFL debut in 2013 and played 10 games for the season, having sat out the 2012 season as he overcame testicular cancer.

Rowe joined the Blues via the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, after previously been rookie-listed by the Sydney Swans for two seasons without a senior appearance.
 
Carlton tall forwards Jarrad Waite and Levi Casboult remain out of contract at the end of the season, along with Jeff Garlett, Mitch Robinson and Brock McLean.
