GEELONG has confirmed that senior coach Chris Scott has signed a contract extension, which ties him to the club until the end of the 2017 season.

The Cats have prospered under Scott's leadership, winning 70 of his 91 games in charge, including the 2011 Grand Final in his debut season as coach.

They have also blooded 22 players during his time in charge.

"I'm really committed to Geelong long-term, and this just formalises that," Scott said on Wednesday.

"I think the club is happy and I'm certainly happy with the situation. This is a great place to be and I enjoy working with our players, coaches and staff."

Scott, 38, has taken Geelong to the finals in each of his three completed seasons, and the Cats will soon embark on a fourth consecutive finals campaign under his guidance.

"Chris has proved himself over the past four years as an astute coach and a person whose values match the club’s values," club chief executive Brian Cook said.

"He has been committed to ensuring the team can continue to challenge for the premiership while at the same time introducing young players to ensure we regenerate as experienced players retire.

"To have successfully been able to manage this has been a tribute to Chris and his staff.

"We are looking forward to Chris continuing to lead our team in the coming years."
