JAEGER O'Meara will fly to London later this month to undergo surgery on both knees with one of the world’s leading specialists.

The Gold Coast midfield star managed to play all 22 games in 2014, but was on a modified program for much of the season.

He will undergo cutting-edge surgery to repair the patella tendons in both knees.

O'Meara is expected to be in recovery for an extended period of time.

After winning the 2013 NAB Rising Star award, the 20-year-old had a mixed second season.

His raw numbers – 21.5 disposals and 6.5 tackles a game – were more than solid, but like many of his young teammates, his form fluctuated as the season wore on.
